Where it all began.

Dennis and I were running Indiana Warbird Campaign.  As with all events, we were always looking for ways to advertise on a limited budget.  We had been attending similar events for many years and were always looking for ideas. In the spring of 2009 we realized all the events had the same problem getting the word out about the shows.  I put together a list of similar events within the Midwest area.  My idea was to for an alliance of these events with promotion as the basis.  A flyer with a list of events with dates could be put into each pilot pack, additional flyers available at pilot registration, announcers would announce the other events during each day of the event and any other way we could spread the word without having to spend a dime.

That summer I approached members of some events and asked them if they would be interested in forming an alliance.  After they were reassured, there was no membership fees, they all said yes.

In 2009 the Warbird and Classics Alliance was formed.  The founding events were:

Wings & Wheels Over Chatham  Chatham, Ontario

Northern Military Alliance Fly-In  Owatonna, MN

Warbirds & Classics Over the Midwest  Fon du lac, WI

Indiana Warbird Campaign  Muncie, IN

Additional events were added over the years as well as several have retired.

2012  Added  Warbird & Classics Over Michigan  Grand Ledge, MI

2013  Added  Air Supremacy Over Elkhart  Elkhart, IN

2015  Added  Windy City Warbirds & Classics  St. Charles, IL

2017  Retired  Wings & Wheels Over Chatham  

2018  Name Change  Air Supremacy Over Goshen  Goshen, IN

2019  Added  Warbirds & Classics of the Bluegrass  Rosewood, IN

2021  Retired  Indiana Warbird Campaign

2022  Added  Air Power Over the IAC   Muncie, IN

2023  Added  Music City Warbirds & Classics  Tullahoma, TN

2025  Added  Arizona Scale Aviation Airshow  Pheonix, AZ

WCA was set up as a giant scale event promoter.  Each event has complete control over their own event.  WCA is not a governing body.

As the years have passed, the WCA has encouraged safety, flightline control and overall support for the rc industry. 

In 2026 it was decided to offer events set up for the support of smaller scale aircraft.  All events are considered either Giant Scale or All Scale.
